Where are the women?

Tomorrow 8. March is international women’s day. A day that focuses on women’s issues in general and equal rights in particular. Worldwide. For there is still work to be done.
And in kulmbach? For example, one could ask how the city is dealing with its historical heritage. Are there important women in the history of the city?? Who are you? What do you do to remember her? Strabs have hardly been named after them at any rate. The strabs of kulmbach, if they are named after people, almost exclusively bear the names of rough manners.
There are a few exceptions. An gleichmannstrabe for example. Named after the local poet elise gleichmann. A gummi-strabe in memory of a meritorious kulmbach family, including the benevolent siblings eduard, christiane and charlotte gummi, the founders of the sibling gummi foundation.
The reichelstrabe honors the work of brewery owner and widow eva margaretha reichel, who – unusually for women of her generation – was a successful entrepreneur. And then there is the old mia-strabe, named after a fictitious figure of the writer and pastor of melkendorf hans glenk, for which there is – after all – a real model.
So four strabs. A little little for a city like kulmbach, or? There must have been more women? The BR editorial office gratefully accepts suggestions.
