The spvgg bayreuth squad for the upcoming regional league season is taking shape: with striker christoph fenninger from 1. FC saarbrucken and midfielder mario gotzendorfer from SV seligenporten are two more new signings. On the other hand, patrick hobsch will leave the altstadter.
Fenninger (23 years old) and gotzendorfer (21) are coach josef albersinger’s dream players: "i know both players from their time in ingolstadt and i am convinced that they will help us further." Fenninger played at ingolstadt from 2014 to 2017 (63 appearances in the regional league/13 goals) and then moved to sudwest-regionalligisten FC saarbrucken (19 appearances).
Gotzendorfer wore the ingolstadt jersey from 2014 to 2017 (52 games/2 goals). Last season he played 28 games (7 goals) for SV seligenporten. "He is technically skilled and a strong runner, can play on the six and the aubenbahn.", says albersinger.
No longer part of the old town squad is striker patrick hobsch. "He has informed us that he will not renew his contract. If he has the chance to become a professional, you have to accept that. We wish him all the best for his future", says albersinger and adds: "we have some trial players and are in contact with many exciting players. I am sure we will make a good team."
